A Special Message From Our Board Chair

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I want to take this moment to check in with you, our loyal supporters and local pet lovers.  I hope you all are staying healthy, practicing social distancing, and following the CDC recommendations during this COVID-19 pandemic.

Please know that all the staff at Pima Animal Care Center (PACC) are committed to keeping pets safe and providing them with all the care they need. If you have been watching their Facebook posts and news releases, you have seen that their innovative processes are getting pets out of the shelter and into homes. Many of you have likely reached out to foster a pet in need and we are so grateful for that support.

Efforts continue to get more pets out of the shelter in order to create a cushion for the upcoming kitten and puppy season (over 3,900 pets came to PACC between April and May of 2019), and potential arrivals of pets whose owners are too sick to keep their pets at home.

Over this past week, hundreds of pets have been adopted and fostered, but we still need to do more.  If you haven’t yet, I encourage you to visit the shelter’s website and sign up to foster a pet. Currently, fosters for medium and large dogs, dogs with medical issues, and shy adult cats are needed most.

As the Friends of PACC, we are continuing our mission of supporting PACC pets and enhancing the shelter’s efforts to save the lives of pets in need. We need your support now more than ever. And it’s during this moment of our community coming together that you can make our vision a reality. You can help us ensure that every pet who comes to Pima Animal Care Center is supported with the resources needed to find a loving home.

Your donations will be used to purchase much-needed foster supplies, fund emergency care for pets who need life-saving surgeries and care from our medical team, help keep families together through financial aid with vet bills, and so much more. As an independent non-profit we can respond quickly and efficiently to immediate shelter needs as they arise, but only with your help.

If you’d like to purchase pet supplies, food, or other items, you can always visit our Amazon wish list, where helping is just a click away! Order from our wish lists using your Amazon Smile account and not only are goods shipped right to the shelter, but a percentage of your purchase cost is donated back to Friends of PACC.

We appreciate your commitment to our community pets in times of fortune and great need. Each of you are very important to us. Please take care of yourself. Practice the recommendations of the CDC.  As our dear friends, we want to know you are safe in these uncertain times. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

In kindness and concern,
Tammi Barrick
