A Heartfelt Journey: Sarah Hegmann's Experience Volunteering at PACC and Finding Love Along the Way

Discovering a Passion for Volunteering at PACC

Sarah Hegmann shares how she first became interested in volunteering at PACC after the passing of her beloved dog, Oshie. "It was really when my soul dog, Oshie, passed away in 2020 that I realized that I felt the need to give back some of the love she gave to me," Sarah recalls. Through her experience at PACC, she has met amazing people, discovered PACC’s large and caring community, and eventually adopted her forever dog, Biscuit, through the Finn's Fund project.

Versatile Volunteer Opportunities at PACC

Sarah praises the variety of ways one can help at PACC, even when facing personal challenges such as undergoing cancer treatment. "I can still volunteer in ways that still feel meaningful and suited to where I am in life right now," she says. From walking dogs to creating pup portraits and assisting with social media, she contributes numerous ways to make a difference in the lives of animals at PACC.

Urgent Needs and the Importance of Fostering

Sarah highlights some of the most pressing needs at PACC, including dog walking, public-facing support, and assisting with playgroups. Fostering is also emphasized as a crucial way to alleviate high census numbers and gather information to help dogs find the perfect forever home. "Fosters are highly needed to help alleviate the high census and provide crucial information that truly helps pups get adopted into homes that are a great fit for their individual needs," she explains.

"I really hope that, if nothing else, my art helps spread awareness of not only each specific dog I paint but that all of these dogs are loved," Sarah expresses. She strives to showcase the unique personalities of the dogs and inspire people to adopt from PACC. She aims to bring hope and joy to the animals and those who love them, making a meaningful difference as part of the PACC family.
