Mr. Buttons only ever wanted to be a lap cat when he grew up, but somehow he found himself severely injured, unable to open his jaw, and being rescued by a PACC Animal Protection Officer. And we are so thankful he came to PACC.

Donations made it possible for Mr. Buttons to get the CT scan and specialty surgical repair of the multiple fractures in his jaw.

After surgery, Mr. Buttons had to have his jaw kept in place by buttons until everything healed enough for them to be removed. It was certainly a strange sight, but it helped Mr. Buttons and gave him a name that will always remind us how far he has come! During this time he had a feeding tube and was given all the extra love and care he could ever want by his dedicated foster.

As often happens, his foster fell in love with him, and wanted to make sure that his special needs were met for the rest of his life—so they adopted him! His new family has to puree his food in the blender, but they don’t mind.

“He is a TOTAL lap cat! I've always wanted a cat to be ‘my baby’—and he is definitely that.” said his adoptive mom.

Thanks to community support, excellent foster programming, and the tenacity of PACC’s clinic team, Mr. Buttons fulfilled his dream of becoming a lap cat! Now he spends his days cuddling, exploring the house, and talking to his new parents when he wants food or attention.

Pets like Mr. Buttons who need specialty care outside of the shelter’s clinic have every chance at the miracles they deserve, only with support from our community.
