Bella’s Bravery - Letter from a Shelter Dog

Friends-of-PACC-Bella

Dear Friend,

My name is Bella and let me tell you what a year I’ve had.

When the year started, I didn’t know where my next meal was going to come from. I was hungry all the time – and I mean all the time - and couldn’t stand up. It wasn’t until I was taken to the shelter and a kind person said, “Welcome to PACC, I’m so glad you’re here now,” that I started to think things might get better after all.

Everyone at the shelter clinic was nice to me, especially the volunteers who gave me chicken (my favorite) and massages (even better than chicken!). And there were so many friends to meet and people always coming by to love on me. I heard them talking about Valley Fever and how I needed a special medication via IV. It sure helped me feel better.

Once I could hold my head up on my own, I was fitted with a cart. It helped me walk! Now I can eat and drink when I want and zoom around wherever I please. I’ve never felt more free!

I was told that it’s the Friends of PACC who are helping me get better. It’s always great to have friends and even better to have a pack. And the way they took care of me made me feel like I was in the best pack ever. Whether pets like me need special medication, a cart, surgery, or a loving foster home, Friends of PACC are making it happen. Thank you for giving me hope and joy!

Someone from Friends of PACC told me all about how much you all care about pets like me. That’s why I want you to meet some of my shelter friends who are also finding hope, thanks to you.

My friend Tippy arrived at the shelter just a couple of days old—his eyes weren’t even open yet! A nice foster nursed him into kitten-hood, but he had even more challenges. Now, dogs and cats aren’t normally friends, but Tippy’s a stand-up cat. A real fighter. He needed to see a special doctor and get surgery—and you know what? Your donations helped him! Now Tippy is almost all grown up and has a loving home waiting for him.

Max was my smallest canine friend at the shelter, he’s just a little chihuahua, but he had BIG problems. And coming from me, that’s saying something. I’m not totally certain what happened to him, but he had some fractures and needed hip surgery. He’s a senior pup and needed lots of extra care. Thanks to you, he got what he needed and is now at home with his new dad.

Little Flicker was just a tiny cat at a few months old when an Animal Protection Officer found him. We were all really worried about him because his back hurt and he couldn’t walk, just like me. After a few months of TLC here at the shelter, Flicker is a whole new cat! I didn’t recognize him when he came in for his last check-up with his soon-to-be family.

There are so many pets like me that need PACC’s help every year. I’m so thankful that PACC didn’t turn me away even though I was very sick. A year ago, I never dreamed that I would be so healthy, mobile, and have such a loving pack. Friends of PACC made it possible for PACC to give me the second chance I needed.

My holiday wish is that every pet in need can have the same chance to heal and find a loving home. Will you help me make that wish come true by making a gift to Friends of PACC?

Thank you for being my friend.

Love,
Bella
