The Man Behind the Camera: How Bruce Giese Brought PACC Dogs to Global Audiences

From Los Angeles to Huntsville, Alabama, New England to Austin, Texas, and finally Tucson - Bruce Giese's journey is as diverse as it is inspiring. A dedicated walker and skilled videographer, Bruce stumbled upon Pima Animal Care Center (PACC) during a bike ride and decided to dedicate part of his retirement to volunteering with us.

His passion for dogs and experience with video editing inspired the creation of the successful YouTube channel Dog Playgroup Stories. With the support of our community and PACC's Behavior Team, he started capturing the joy, spirit, and playful antics of PACC dogs. His videos reached a global audience, showcasing our beloved furry friends to viewers in Tucson and worldwide.

But the magic of Bruce's work extends beyond the joy it brings viewers. After experimenting with different content formats, Bruce developed long, 9-hour videos for dogs to watch when their humans are away. These videos quickly gained popularity, helping the channel's donations to Friends of PACC grow from a few hundred dollars a month to more significant amounts.

Bruce's second YouTube channel, Shelter Dogs for Adoption, further demonstrates his commitment to PACC’s mission. It showcases individual dogs available for adoption at PACC, helping these animals find their forever homes.

Beyond the significant revenue his videos generate for PACC, Bruce sees the potential for his work to serve other purposes. He believes people can use the footage to study dog group behavior and make adoption videos for individual dogs.
