We’re Hiring! Private donation funds 4 part-time shelter workers

Happy employees at PACCLove animals? Want to help them find secure, safe homes? The Friends of Pima Animal Care Center, a project fund of the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona, is funding four temporary workers to help further the mission of Pima Animal Care Center, the only shelter in Pima County that never turns away a pet in need.

Thanks to a generous $125,000 donation from animal lover and pet advocate Bonnie Kay, the nonprofit Friends is seeking applications for the following positions. All will be employed by the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona, funded for 20 hours a week for one year, with the potential for renewal:

The positions come at a time when Pima Animal Care Center’s live-release rate is steadily climbing. Just six years ago, that number was below 40 percent. This fiscal year today, PACC’s live release rate is averaging an all-time high of 83 percent.

“These donation-funded positions will help fill a critical need for PACC,” said Karen Hollish, Development Director for Pima Animal Care and Director of the Friends. “Working tirelessly to save lives costs more money than the old way of doing business. Local governments and taxpayers can’t shoulder that entire burden, so generous private citizens like Bonnie Kay help us sustain and build on the progress we’ve made.”

An interview panel will consist of representatives from Pima Animal Care Center and the Friends.
